Membership Guidelines

  1. Membership is open to all home educating families who are in agreement with the Statement of Purpose of this organization and who agree to abide by these guidelines.
  2. Application for membership is made by submitting a registration form, signing a membership agreement and payment of annual dues.
  3. The term of the membership shall be for the period of one year beginning August 1st through July 31st. Member families will need to renew their membership on an annual basis. This may be done at the local support group meetings, or by mail or online.
  4. Each member family shall constitute one vote.
  5. Board meetings are open to visitors and meet once monthly.
  6. Directories are provided to each member at the October/November meetings. Members must not misuse or abuse the membership directory or use it for any business purpose.
  7. PPEA does not sponsor field trips; however, field trips for homeschoolers are planned and organized by volunteer members of our group. Most field trips are announced in our monthly newsletter or at our support group meetings. If you wish to participate in a field trip, you must call the contact person to RSVP. Each participant must assume any and all risk of physical injury or any other that could result from any of these activities and events. Parents are held responsible for behavior of their child(ren). Please make it a goal to welcome all new homeschoolers during field trips and other events. Homeschoolers have set a standard for being courteous and models of good behavior. We have a reputation of conducting ourselves appropriately and hope to always act accordingly.

Group Meetings: There are two locations and days for support group meetings each month, located mid and south county. Each group will post its upcoming meeting time, date and topic in the monthly newsletter. You will also be able to find meeting information on this website.

Resolution of Disputes: Since PPEA has no membership restriction of race, religion or personal homeschooling option, it is understood that many members hold specific religious convictions and/or educational philosophies or approaches. Because of this diversity, each member agrees to show tolerance and understanding when others' convictions may differ from their own personal views so that the unified purpose for the support group may be maintained. If there is an issue or situation taht cannot be resolved or which is extrememly uncomfortable for any member, please bring it to the attention fo a Board Member, and the Board will take it into prayerful consideration to find a peaceful and satisfactory resolution.

We would like to encourage our members to be at peace with other homeschoolers, both within our group and those from other groups. "Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord." Hebrews 12:14 "and that you esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Live in peace with one another." 1 Thes. 5:13.

Membership Costs $30
After filling out the form, you will be directed to our payment page where you may pay through PayPal using your credit card or a PayPal account. You do not need a PayPal account to complete this transaction. You will be charged a service fee of $1.50. Submission of this form confirms that you have read the above membership guidelines and agree to those guidelines.

    • FPEA (Florida Parent Educators Association) is an organization, which exists to serve any and all homeschooling families in Florida. Although not specifically Christian, the FPEA seeks to serve homeschoolers throughout the state with a newsletter and statewide convention. PPEA members receive a reduced membership of $18, which may be added to your PPEA Membership transaction. Membership in FPEA runs October 1 to September 30 and no new memberships are taken after March 15th. There are no exceptions to this deadline.

    HEF (Home Education Foundation) was founded by Craig & Brenda Dickenson in 1991 to raise support and direct lobbying for home education. HEF exists to safeguard current legislation and evaluate future legislation. Craig passed away in 1993, but his wife, Brenda has continued as a full time lobbyist for homeschoolers in this state, solely supported by contributions from homeschoolers across the state.
